Belly Fat Cure FAQs > Basics > Do sugar alcohols count towards S/C Values?

Sugar alcohols don’t actually contain any sugar or alcohol.  They are a type of carbohydrate that requires very little insulin to be converted into energy.  Sugar alcohols are used in foods for sweetness but don’t cause a major spike in blood sugar or affect your immune system in any way.  Do not count any grams listed as “sugar alcohols” as your sugar on a nutrition label on this program.  Sugar alcohols may, however, be included on a label under “total carbohydrates” which means that they will be counted as carbs on the S/C Value.  There is no need to keep track of these separately.

Please note: Some people find that they get an upset stomach after consuming sugar alcohols.  Tolerance for them varies from person to person. Excessive amounts of sugar alcohols may lead to unwanted bloating, however in moderation, should not cause digestive issues. Pay attention to your own personal level of tolerance.
